Julia Muradova was born and brought up in St-Petersburg. She graduated from the sculpture department of V. A. Serov art school, then, in 1992, she graduated from the i. e. Repin Academy of Arts (the painting, sculpture and architecture institute), she is a member of international humanitarian fund "Free Culture", a member of Russian artist union, the laureate of the State premium in 1989, the laureate of Russian President's scholarship for success in creative works in 1998. Julia Muradova is well known in St-Petersburg. She is the author of personal expositions, including that in the Summer Garden, her works have been displayed at more than 90 exhibitions in this country and abroad. Julia Muradova is member of art union "Polyrealism".

When I got to know Julia it was far away. Our first meeting didn't concern art, however, I was delighted with her creative activity, her perception of harmony, her desire for life and her power to create new things.

A painter, sculptor, traveller. Each of these definitions implies special consideration for internal and external state of mind and things, the feeling of space, the interest in history. The period of search and travels gave way to solitude and moving from the centre of St-Petersburg to the suburbs. Trying to perceive herself as a part of this world, this country, nation, culture, to comprehend the system of interrelations and find a relevant concordance, Julia continues to develop the traditions and achievements of her teachers and supervisors. She is getting closer to understanding the fact that Art and Knowledge make the noblest crown of spirit. In my opinion, her works are getting a new power and her "exhibition of dreams" makes an impression of integrity thanks to the unity of spirit, creative energy and atmosphere of mournful joy. While in Russia, I think, just being at Julia's and finding myself among her sculptures, books, pictures and sketches makes journey unforgettable.

One of the latest compositions The Way Home enchants one with its convention and simplicity, captivates by mystery and patience, almost the same way as the near-realistic work My Lovely Angel - Dasha's portrait. The strict plasticity of The Long Voyage and credibility of The Orange Tree remind me about the fact that "imagination is nothing but a gained, earned and experience".

Julia is a person known for her kindness and openness; the living process of development and her unexhausted potential resources evidence that the exhibition is not yet a course for summing up.

Now on a small square opposite the monastery gatelhere are standing Julia's sculptures "chzhun kui", "metamorphoses", "springtime", and nobody asks the question what is it? why?, for they seem to have grown from earth and live on it with everybody, the artist's rich inner life is a pledge of our inability to embrace it with our consciousness when we encounter it, and Julia's art attracts us as a riddle, simple yet unsolvable.

"Му world starts at my home". Julia Muradova's words are not at variance with reality: a large house in Ozernoye is all full of sculptures, original graphic works - the creative art that gives a paradoxical feeling of surprising changeability and at the same time the unity of all existing matter. One can see, though not immediately, behind the aggregate of sculptures and drawings, the general subject realised in recurring movement of plastic metaphors that emerge as a result of consecutive step-by-step artistic research. In the sculptures The North Sea, A Beauty, The Music of Summer, An Animal's Young we see animals with human eyes, people without faces, their contiguity, interaction, the forms of reflection and existence - feeling infrequent sensation of penetrating into the primeval elements.

The ability to follow the inner logic of image development, inherent to Julia, makes her look for and find her own language, specific means of expression. The original interpretation, the feeling of colouring, strict sense of proportion, sensitivity and flexibility of creative character enable her to synthesise successfully the acquired knowledge, observations and free perception, like in, say, one of the new sculptures A Bird-Catcher or the The Way Home full of conventions, the mythical Fear, the fairy Lullaby. Not only the tasks of figurative solution are evidently traced, but also, being the main trait, - the search of plastic bond with the space, the constructive nature of conceptions.

I believe that the integrity of Julia Muradova's world outlook, her ability for work, strict demands to herself will let us observe for many years ahead the living, energy-emitting form, coloured with gently-lyrical or ironical tones, filled with the painter's tremulous attitude to this immense world.
